Today I’d like to talk about someone who combines two interests of mine: photography and bondage. I first found out about Domasan’s work browsing through Flickr and was immediately attracted to his work. He basically takes pictures of his amazing rope bondage work, you can have a look and judge by yourself.
So after I while I got in touch and through some conversations I’ve learnt a lot more about him. Domasan’s first bondage experience was 10 years ago but it wasn’t until 6 years later that he didn’t take it up seriously and literally learnt the ropes through fairly intensive practice with 4-5 sessions a week.
On the other side Domasan’s artistic side comes from much earlier, probably inspired by his father who was a Chinese artist. He started with photography about 6 years ago and later combined both passions to create some of his astonishing work. Although he does use some studio lighting the main strength of his work resides in the complexity of his visually striking rope work, mostly using red and black rope, red being the Chinese colour of luck contrasted with black for impact.

Believe me, creating such intricate rope work is no easy task, so his experience as a boy scout came handy when he started – who would have said what those skills would end up creating.
Domasan was originally from Taiwan but he moved to LA in 1989 where he’s been living since then. If you like the pictures on this post and you plan to be in LA in the near future you can see more of his work at the Antebellum gallery in Hollywood, CA, where he’s exhibiting March 15th as part of an exhibition called “S&M”.
He meets most of his models through the internet, so if you’re around and would like to model for him, get in touch through his website. I sure would love to be in his work!
